Crystallina Nera West, located in northeast Edmonton’s Lake District, was originally used for agricultural purposes. The neighbourhood was established in 2007 through the adoption of the Crystallina Nera West Neighbourhood Structure Plan. It was originally considered Neighbourhood 3 within the Edmonton North Area Structure Plan (ASP).

Crystallina Nera West is bounded on the west by 82nd Street, the north by Anthony Henday Drive, the east by Crystallina Nera East, and the south by the Schonsee neighbourhood. The neighbourhood’s internal transportation system consists of three collector roads and a number of local roads. Once complete, residential housing will consist of equal parts low and medium density. An elementary school and a junior high school will be built on two of the four school-designated sites in the south-central area shared by Crystallina Nera West and Crystallina Nera East. A number of nearby elementary, junior high, and senior high schools are also available in nearby communities. Anthony Henday Drive, 66 Street, 82 Street, and Yellowhead Trail provide residents with access to the downtown core and the rest of Edmonton.
