2024 Design Trends and Tips!

Your home is a canvas, one that is made to be changed and a way to express your style and creativity! If the love for your space is fading, or the function of one room isn’t working anymore change it! Now we’re not talking about tearing down walls or a full “gut job” but if you want to do that, who are we to stop you. While those situations do make for great TV, and maybe even give you the confidence to take on a project of that magnitude, it can be a very daunting and stressful undertaking. And trust us, you won’t have it all done in 60 minutes like TV magic may lead you to believe. Instead try working with the bones of your home, and make what you have work even better for you! We hope the following trends for 2024, mixed in with some tips, inspire you to take that leap into transforming your home!

Is your living room functioning as your office, your kid’s classroom away from school, and still your cozy space to reconnect with your family friends? No problem, in fact multifunction rooms are on trend for 2024. Storage and organization solutions have come a long   way and can even enhance the design of your space. Having decorative baskets tucked under tables or beside the couch can add a cozy warm feeling to your living room, while acting as a quick place to store any clutter when needed! Look for coffee tables and end tables that have storage capabilities as well. Also, these can make a great make-shift desk when needed as well. On a budget? Check out your local thrift stores for furniture, it may take time to find what you are looking for but the savings will be worth it!

blankColor is also a fun way to transform your space. Don’t be scared of it! You can start small, with an accent wall, or take on a bigger project like your powder room or dining room. If you love a bold and dramatic colour, burgundy and plum are the new black and green for 2024. Light and fresh more your style, 2024 is all about “50 shades of blue”.

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, but is your heart just not into your kitchen anymore? Try changing the colour of your cabinets. This can most often be done with paint rather than getting brand new cabinets. I would recommend doing your research into local companies who specialize in this service as you don’t want to risk damaging your cabinets. Blue is also a popular shade for cabinets in 2024.

blankMaybe your project for 2024 is new flooring. Oak and white washed floors are the most popular choice for 2024. Flooring is a big change, but it will have a dramatic impact on your space. You can also lay the flooring in many different styles, such as straight, chevron, herringbone, which will also add character to your space.

Lastly, a little can go a long way. Not ready to paint? Try incorporating different throw pillows and décor in the colour palette you are hoping to transition to. Don’t have the budget to redo your cabinets? Try changing out their hardware instead. This can be relatively inexpensive, while still having a big impact on your kitchen.

blankFlooring needs to go, but now just isn’t the time? Try adding area rugs to your space. This is a great way to cover any tired areas and add a little dimension to your space. For storage and organization solutions, check out your local dollar store. They have lovely options that won’t break the bank!

Whatever your 2024 decorating goals may be, we hope this inspired you to transform your space and maybe even give you some ideas you didn’t think were possible!

Cheers,

The Beech Woolger Team
