Get to know Mark!

Get to know our newest Realtor®, Mark Van Eeken and find out why he’s a perfect fit for the Beech Woolger Team AND it has nothing to do with his love of Mexican food and beer… okay, maybe just a little bit.

Why Real Estate?

I’ve spent over 30 years helping people solve problems and finding the right fit for their unique needs. Becoming a REALTOR was the perfect choice. I enjoy getting to know my clients and their families so I can make the best possible recommendations for their lifestyles.

What is your favourite part of the job so far?

Getting out in the community and meeting new people. Helping my clients through what can be a very confusing process, so they can simply focus on finding the best home for their needs.

What do you like to do for fun?

In our free time my wife and I like to camp, travel and spend time with friends. I also try to stay active by going to the gym a few days a week and golfing or skiing when possible. And our 7 lb Shih Tzu, Sadie is never far behind.

Why the Beech Woolger Team and not another one?

I interviewed several brokerages and teams as I was completing my Real Estate licensing. As soon as I sat down with Dave he immediately made me feel at ease. We talked about how much we loved our families, traveling, golfing, camping and enjoying everything the Edmonton area had to offer. When we got around to talking about working together, it was evident we had the exact same focus. We want to take the stress out of the process, ensuring every question is answered and having fun along the way.

Favourite food?

I have travelled to Mexico numerous times and even owned property there for several years. The Mexican people, their culture and cuisine are very special to me. If you slide a Mexican platter my way with refried beans, paella, tacos al pastor and a cold cerveza we will get along just fine. Pizza and nachos are a close second.

Favorite music?

80’s new wave all the way! The more synthesizer and drum machine the better.

Are you laid back or up tight?

Definitely laid back. I have a lot of patience and have mentored and trained many people over the years.

If you couldn’t be a REALTOR® what would you be?

After High School I became a licensed Optician and Contact Lens practitioner. I worked in that industry for several years until I selected a different career path. I often wondered what it would have been like to take my training even further and become an Optometrist or even an Ophthalmologist, doing complex eye surgeries.
